International GI Joes Part 12. The International heroes. – Fun School. – India
What truly started me into the wild world of International Joes was India. And an Indian friend Mahdu who brought back with him from India some GI Joes and a vehicle he bought me while back home visiting. Actualy I ow it all to him that I bought my collection back from a friend and bought all the Joes I know have... It's ALL his fault :) He brought me back a carded figure and a vehicle, the carded figure was Dial Tone and the vehicle was the Weapons transport. It had been almost twelve years since I had scene these on the shelves in any store, Upon opening the vehicle I noticed a figure was bagged in side, as the sticker stated on the box a figure WAS included, unlike the American versions of old. Although it was a Sci Fi figure with out any weapons or file card it was still a treat to have.
The one thing I can say about The International Heroes, they are cheap, cheap to buy (for the most part unless it's a torpedo or baroness figure) and are cheaply made, their stickers and plastics are of a lower grade in materials. This being said, it does not change the fact that they own a right in the Joe Universe. They made many exclusives and in many facts every one of their Joes is in some way or another a color or body made variant. Three variants that come to mind are the exclusive Super hero figure, a Stealer head on a Super Man body with cape and all, or the below presented Street Hawk Figure and Bike, Based off of the short lived 80's TV show of a Speed Stealth Bike, Then there was The Parachutist, a Figure built from Beach Heads body and crazy legs head sold with a parachute for action and adventure, his markings clearly add him to the famed, Yellow and Orange Tiger Force Squad although never exactly Stated.
Then there are the countless Vehicle Drivers that Fun School decided to package on the card, a first time way for any one to get these figures in this format, Wild Weasel, Featured in the collage of carded figures below along with wind mill who actually comes with a Wind mill styled weapon to 'Blow Down' Enemy's.
Many hate the Fun School line, I for one am a fan of the odd and weird in the Joe verse, this series from India definitely fits that description. Featured below are my Indian carded figures and a side by side shot of Crazy legs and the Indian Parachutist, Also the Weapons transports, minus the antenna, lost that in a move, It is side by side with the American version, Notice the color variations, not that big of a deal, but a small and minor difference, The Fun School line features HUNDREDS of figures and a ton of vehicles, you can still find many on line and pay any where from .99 cents to 3.99 for many carded figures, Cheap yet awesome, to buy, open or display. And a real cheap way for those who want old molds that may never be used again to get them.
Then trip Wire... yes the Purple figure is a Joe, trip wire must be one of the most produced in color varients figures ever made. The one from India comes with a New mold of Mine sweeper.
